Ian’s career has focused on the adoption and development of next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and applications. He facilitates sequencing applications in a wide-range of subject areas in both the wet-lab and computer-biology/bioinformatic settings. Current funded areas of research include microbiology, metagenomics and environmental DNA / metabarcoding studies in a range of study systems including monitoring environmental change, arthropod vectors and surveillance of infectious disease agents, especially in Lower/Middle-income countries.
